Complaints filed accuse Pirro of abusing her prosecutorial powers to seek “meritless” indictments against President Donald Trump’s “perceived political enemies”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) released the following statement regarding reporting of a legal watchdog organization’s filing of a complaint against U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro and her team. This comes at the near six month mark of a grand jury refusing to indict Senator Slotkin, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), Rep. Maggie, Goodlander (D-NH), Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-PA), and Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) over a video restating the law.
The filing accuses Pirro of violating her ethical duties when attempting to indict Senator Slotkin, Senator Kelly, and their colleagues under instruction from President Trump, in a blatant misuse of the power of her office to go after the President’s perceived political enemies.
“Six months ago, Jeanine Pirro saluted President Trump and tried to criminally indict me and five colleagues for a 90-second video that simply restated the law.
“That was on top of doing the same to a number of other public figures who the President perceived as enemies of the state.
“It was the weaponization of the government, demonstrating an amazing disregard for the law, and for her oath of office. She should be investigated and held accountable.”
