ICYMI: Slotkin, Colleagues Demand Trump Hold the Line Ahead of China State Visit

Sep 23, 2026 | Press Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and U.S. Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) held a press conference ahead of the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Trump.

Slotkin emphasized the three things she wants to see from Trump ahead of the summit, which includes keeping Chinese vehicles out of the United States, preventing Chinese companies sharing information with Iran that resulted in the deaths of three U.S. service members and halting exports to China of high-tech American chips.

Slotkin has been leading the bipartisan charge to ban Chinese vehicles with her legislation, the Connected Vehicle Security Act of 2026, which passed a key Senate Committee earlier this year unanimously.
