U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin FY27 Congressionally Directed Spending and Programmatic Requests.

FY27 Congressionally Directed Spending Requests

Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) allows Members of Congress to request federal funding for specific projects that address critical needs in states and communities. Through this process, Members review project proposals submitted by eligible entities and advocate for selected projects to be included in the annual federal appropriations bills.

CDS funding supports a wide range of community-based projects, including but not limited to infrastructure improvements, public safety initiatives, health and human services, education and workforce development, housing, transportation, and environmental programs. All proposed projects must meet federal eligibility requirements and demonstrate a clear public benefit.

FY27 Programmatic Appropriations Requests

Senator Slotkin will submit FY27 programmatic requests to the Senate Committee on Appropriations, elevating federal funding priorities that are important to Michiganders. Constituents can help shape these priorities by identifying funding needs, requesting how much in federal dollars should be appropriated to a government program over the next fiscal year. Programmatic requests can also take the form of policy changes for authorized federal programs through bill or report language. Submissions must identify the relevant Appropriations Subcommittee, agency, and program account where the funding needs/ legislative language is being requested.
