WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, questioned U.S. Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Slotkin’s remarks and questions of Hegseth focused on whether he has authorized the U.S. military to arrest, detain, or use lethal force on unarmed protesters on United States soil.

Slotkin is a former CIA officer who was deployed for three times in Iraq alongside active-duty military and served presidents of both parties in national security roles at the White House and Pentagon.
