WASHINGTON, D.C. — Last night, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) delivered a speech from the Senate floor making clear how President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” will strip away health care and drive-up costs for average Americans and working families.  

Her speech emphasized how the consequences of the Big Beautiful Bill will impact Michiganders, with rate hikes this fall – including by using a real-life example of a Michigander, who has already received notice of a 15% increase from 2024 to 2025. The Senator drove home a critical message, that in the most powerful country in the world, families should not have to go bankrupt to get the care that they need, all to cut taxes for the wealthiest.
