In footage, then-Major Pete Hegseth calls Donald Trump an “armchair tough guy” and repeatedly reiterates that U.S. military should not follow unlawful orders

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) released the following video compiling Pete Hegseth’s own words regarding illegal orders. These new videos build on CNN reporting from earlier this week about Hegseth’s position in 2016 that the U.S. military should only follow lawful orders.

In further video evidence from 2016, then-Major Pete Hegseth criticizes President Trump as “an armchair tough guy” and repeats similar language that Slotkin and others said in their video on illegal orders.

President Trump called for Slotkin and five other Democratic lawmakers with service and veteran backgrounds to be hanged for remarks that sound strikingly similar to Secretary Hegseth’s repeated comments in 2016.
